Description From Owner:
- Upper Blackville: The place name honours William Black (1771-1866), who immigrated to Saint John from Aberdeen Scotland in 1798 to work with his brother John in the timber trade.
- John moved to Halifax in 1808 and William took over the Saint John branch of their company. By 1812 their timber firm had become one of the largest business operations in British North America.
- William also served as member of the executive council and administrator of the province from 1829-31. The post office opened here in 1898.
