New Brunswick Tourism Region : Mirimichi River Valley
Description From Owner:
- The New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Land Company established the place in 1834 and named it Campbell for Sir Archibald Campbell (1769-1843), Lieut. Gov. of New Brunswick from 1831-1837.
- The place was also called Campbelltown. The name Bloomfield Ridge originally was the name of Parker Ridge, 3 km SW of here. That name had been given in 1842 by Thomas Boies because the area had a profusion of wild flowers.
- In 1885 when the post office opened at Bloomfield Ridge, the first postmaster, John W. Parker, named that place after himself and transferred the name of Bloomfield Ridge here.
