- The Canaan R. which flows SW into Washademoak L. takes its name from New Canaan on the Canaan R. and Route 112 in the NE tip of Kings C., 16 km E of Canaan Forks.
- New Canaan, 37 km W of Moncton, takes its name from the biblical designation for Israel prior to its conquest by the Hebrews. Canaan River No. 1 (Clark, Aaron) covered bridge, built in 1927, is off Route 112 on Cherryvale Road.
