- Gondola Point, no longer marked on the map, extends into the Kennebecasis R. and gets its name from gondolas, small dugout canoes or scows used as ferries in the 19th century.
- The year-round, toll-free ferry service crossing the river at Gondola Point is the oldest in the province, having operated here since 1825.
- In 1852 the name Clifton was chosen in a public vote likely after the many like-named places in England, the literal meaning of which is a 'settlement on a hill.'
- The Royal was added later to avoid confusion with the Clifton in Gloucester C. At the time this Clifton was in the federal riding of Royal, now named Fundy-Royal.
