Description From Owner:
  • The place was settled in 1838 and first known as Williamsburg Corner.
  • When the post office came in 1885, the community took its name from nearby Cross Creek which flows SE to the Naskwaak R. and Southwest Miramichi R.
  • Cross Creek was named for the early portage route between the Nashwaak and Miramichi rivers. It is shown on a 1799 map as Nabudagan and on deeds in 1827 as Labudagun Stream.
