- The place was laid out as Trafalgar in 1856 with 10,000 acres of land.
- When the post office opened in 1904 it took the name of the parish which had been established in 1826 and likely named after Ann Dundas, wife of Sir Howard Douglas, Lieut. Gov. of NB from 1823 to 1832 or Robert Saunders Dundas,
- 2nd Viscount Melville, First Lord of the Admiralty.
