Description From Owner:

Named for the Acadians who hid here during the Acadian expulsion of 1755. By 1866 French Lake was a farming and lumbering settlement with about 70 families including 6 Ferguson and 13 Upton families
. By 1898 French Lake had only a post office, one store, a grist mill and a population of about 100.
