3 MAIN ST E |
New Brunswick Tourism Region : Southeastern New Brunswick
Description From Owner:
- The name is first shown on a land petition in 1788 as Jollycoeur and the story that coeur, French for 'heart,' indicated the place was so designated for its heart shape is considered fanciful.
- The place most likely was named for early French settlers with the family name Jolicoeur. The contemporary spelling has been in use since the post office opened in 1838.
