Description From Owner:
- The place was named after Kincardine, Scotland, by a group of Scottish settlers who came here in 1873 and described the place as 'a wilderness much less attractive than that which they had been led to expect.'
- The place had been planned the previous year and was to embrace the settlements of Kintorc and Stonehaven, names which disappeared when the post office opened as Kincardine. For a short time the place was also known as Scotch Colony.
