The name was selected in 1969 for an historical village established by the government of New Brunswick to depict a riverside community of the St. John River Valley during the period 1780 to 1870.
There are more than 70 restored buildings here a farm, blacksmith shop, several mills and stores and an assortment of historic homes. In tourist season more than 100 costumed 'residents' go about daily life as it was lived in this re-created era.
