  • In 1866 the place was a fishing and shipbuilding settlement with 40 families including 12 Lord families. By 1898 there were 6 stores, 1 hotel, a sardine factory, 2 boat-building companies, 2 churches and a population of 900.
  • The post office opened here in 1885.
