10607 RUE 113 MISCOU |
New Brunswick Tourism Region : Acadian Coast
Description From Owner:
- Th Lighhouse is the most northerly point in the province. Miscou Centre, Miscou Gully, Miscou Harbour, Miscou Lighthouse and Miscou Plains all take their name from the 64 sq km island which Champlain noted on his 1623 map as I de Miscou.
- The name may be derived from the Micmac Susqu for 'low land,' or 'boggy marsh.' Miscou Island Lighthouse is an octagonal wooden tower built in 1856 and is still active. From Route I l take Exit 217 and follow Route 113 to its end on Miscou Island.
