Description From Owner:
- The community, bay and point take their name from the river which the Micmac called Mespaak, 'overflowed,' likely referring to rising tides that flooded the river mouth.
- A 1776 map shows the river as Robert Creek, but a dozen years later it appears as Mispeck Creek on another map. The post office opened here in 1861.
