Description From Owner:

The name comes from the river NW of Richibucto and is of unknown Micmac origin. A 1793 map in the Crown lands office shows ''Northwest River' by the ‘Mi'kmaqs Aldouane.'
The post office opened in 1902 as Little Aldouane and reverted to the French spelling, Petite-Aldouane, in 1962.
