7651 RUE ST-PAUL |
New Brunswick Tourism Region : Acadian Coast
Description From Owner:
- The name is believed to come from the Micmac Booksadadek, meaning 'narrow passage between rocks,' with reference to Petite Passe.
- The island first shows up on an 1816 plan as Pocsucdier I., later as Poksudi and then Pouckcoudie I.
- In 1901 the Geographic Board of Canada approved the name Pokesudi Island; in 1955 the Canadian Board on Geographic Names changed the official name to Pokesudie Island.
