Description From Owner:
  • The area was settled in 1783 following the American Revolution by members of the Prince of Wales Regiment and was known as Prince of Wales long before Edward, Prince of Wales, visited here in 1860.
  • The post office opened under its present name in 1861. In 1898 the community was a station on the Shore Line Railway.
