- The former estate of E. Stone Wiggins, was probably named for the occurrence of Prince's Pine (Pinus banksiana) on the seawall here.
- E. Stone Wiggins (1839-1910), born in Grand Lake, was a teacher, wrote several books and ran unsuccessfully for Parliament. He began predicting severe storms in 1881 based on a combination of astrology, moon lore and weather statistics.
- He predicted a violent storm for the day the steamboat Asia sank on Lake Huron with a loss of 120 lives, but most of his subsequent predictions failed to materialize.
- Wiggins claimed that the government weather service suppressed his prediction techniques.
