Description From Owner:
- The river was named for the portage route from Big Tracadie R. to Tabusintac Bay. It was first called John Boys River for John Niles dit Boy who lived at the bridge here.
- When the post office opened in 1889 postmaster Isaiah Légère called the place Légère. In 1962 the name was changed to its present form.
