New Brunswick Tourism Region : Fundy Shore
Description From Owner:
- Friars Head is a pillar on the beach here called Old Friar because from a distance it resembles a statue.
- Adjacent to the head is Friars Cove. The origin of the name Friars Road given by mapmaker William Owen in the mid-1800s for the large body of water between Campobello I. and Eastport, is not known locally.
- Snug Cove : During the U.S. Embargo Act of 1807 and War of 1812, goods from British ports were shipped here on neutral vessels and then cleared into the U.S. through Eastport, Maine.
