26 MOORES MILLS RD |
New Brunswick Tourism Region : Fundy Shore
Description From Owner:
- In 1803 a group of immigrants from Sutherlandshire, Scotland landed on the nearby St. Croix R. They were discouraged by their inability to find satisfactory land so they left almost immediately for Nova Scotia.
- When word of this reached nearby St. Andrews, some Scottish merchants of the town outfitted a vessel, pursued the would-be settlers and convinced them to return.
- They were eventually granted land here. The post office opened as Scotch Ridge in 1885.
