The place was settled in 1800 and called New Ridge because Old Ridge existed 3 km W. For a time it was called Cape Ann for settlers from Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
It was also called Clindenin Ridge for David, David Jr. And Robert Clindenin, Loyalists.
The place was also called Wentworth Plantation for Sir John Wentworth (1737-1820), Surveyor General of the King's Woods from 1766-1775 and 1783-1789 and Lieut-Gov. of NS from 1792-1808.
