  • The area was settled by Loyalists in 1784. One was Jacob Wiggins of New York who named 14 children as heirs in a will drawn up before his death in 1815.
  • Waterborough Parish was established in 1786 and likely named for its position beside Grand Lake. Waterborough post office opened in 1861.
