- The post office here was Blue Cove from about 1889-1960. The French spelling for the community was officially adopted in 1968.
- Anse is an Acadian descriptive referring to an 'indentation or cove in the line of a coast or shore, rounded in form and small in size.' Bleu(e) is French for the colour blue.
