New Brunswick Tourism Region : St. John River Valley
Description From Owner:
- First known as Red Rapids Bridge, the community was named by Sir Arthur Hamilton Gordon (1819-1912), lieutenant-governor of New Brunswick from 1861 to 1866.
- He refers to the naming in his book, Wilderness Journeys in New Brunswick: 'I named it for the little border village (Arthurette, south of Carlisle) where Sir James Graham ( 1792-1861) lies buried.'
- Graham was first lord of the Admiralty 1852-55 and MP for Carlisle. Odellbach River No. 2 (Tomlinson Mill) covered bridge, built in 1918, is off Route 109 on Tomlinson Mill Road at Licford.
