7117 ROUTE 117 |
New Brunswick Tourism Region : Mirimichi River Valley
Description From Owner:
- This was the site of an Acadian refugee camp after the fall of Fort Beauséjour and the expulsion of the Acadians in 1755.
- There is no definitive source for the name. Historian Alan Rayburn suggests 'vin' is likely a corruption of 'ventes' and that early settlers had named the place Baie des ventes, French for 'bay of winds.'
- With permission from 'New Brunswick Place Names' David E. Scott 2009
