Buff Moose Hill
- The creek flows into Belleisle Bay of the St. John R. The Maliseet knew the place as Peskaybac, 'branch bay.'
- Although Belleisle appears to be French for 'beautiful island,' this place name was given by Alexandre Le Borgne de Belle-Isle Il.
- He was the son of the one-time acting governor and seigneur of Port-Royal, Alexandre Le Borgne de Belle-Isle 1 (1643-1693). The younger Belle-Isle moved here from Annapolis in 1656 and gave his name to the community, the bay and the river.
- Belleisle Creek No. 2 (Marven) covered bridge, built in 1903, is off Route 870 on Swamp Road.
- Buff Moose Hill… This name was noted as early as 1819 when it was mentioned in a land petition. The place is named for a moose that broke its neck in Alex Northrup's pasture 22 km N of Hampton. There was a post office here from 1889 to 1920.
