- Beresford, incorporated as a village in 1967 and a town in 1984, takes its name from the parish named for William Carr Beresford, 1 Viscount Beresford (1768-1854), an English general who achieved fame in the fight for the Iberian Peninsula, 1808-1814.
- Birthplace of Premier Joseph Raymond Frenette (1935-) who served from October of 1997 to May of 1998 and was respected as a hard worker and 'most wily debater.'
