Description From Owner:
  • American Thomas Boies came here in 1822 and built saw- and grist mills. The community was established as a company town with a theatre, non-denominational church and houses for the workers.
  • In 1835 Boies sold his interest in the company. The post office came in 1840.
  • Boiestown is the home of the Central New Brunswick Woodmen's Museum, repository of historic tools, documents and photographs, a rebuilt trapper's cabin and the operating Whooper train, (so named for its whistle).
  • The place name is pronounced 'boyce-town,' not 'boys-town.'
