Description From Owner:

The name derives from the community's location at the centre of a number of smaller places.
It was first called Wheeler's Corner and then Perkins Corner for Richard Perkins who settled here in 1855. When the post office opened in 1862 the name was Centreville. It was incorporated as a village in 1966.
