Description From Owner:
- In 1897 the post office was Leger Corner after an early settler. In 1946 the place was renamed after the disastrous Aug. 19, 1942 Battle of Dieppe (France) to honour Canadian servicemen who died there.
- Of the 5,000 Canadians involved, more than 900 were killed and 1,874 were taken prisoner. Dieppe was incorporated as a village in 1946 and as a town in 1952.
- Crystal Palace Amusement Park at 499 Paul St. is the only indoor and outdoor amusement park in Atlantic Canada.
