Description From Owner:
  • When the post office opened in 1885 the place was called Grandique. In 1944 the name was officially changed to Grande-Digue from the French for 'big dyke.' The dyke earthworks were still visible in the early 20th century.
  • Musée des Pionniers is a collection of historic buildings a 1788 chapel, 1880 school, 1895 barn in which are displayed artifacts from the early days of the area. From Route 1 1 take Exit 7 to 468B Route 530.
