Description From Owner:
  • The place was established in 1860 as a NB and NS Co. settlement and the first mill was built by a Mr. Hayes. The post office opened in 1885 and the village was incorporated in 1966.
  • Nackawic River No. 5 (Nackawic Siding) covered bridge, built in 1927, is off Route 585 on Nackawic Siding Road near Millville at Nortondale.
  • To commemorate the millenium, steelworkers Roger McGuigan and his son Justin built a three-metre-high (9 1/2 feet) steel maple leaf here.
