23333 HWY 134 |
New Brunswick Tourism Region : Acadian Coast
Description From Owner:
- The community took its name from the creek which the Micmac called Soonagedejeech, 'little place where cranberries are found.' or Medapenegayageecht, 'sand bank of red colour.'
- On an 1827 map the creek is shown as Nash Brook, possibly named for a Capt. Nash who was in Washington's army and lived here for a short time.
- The post office opened here as River Louison in 1861 and in 1919 the name was changed to Nash Creek.
