Perth Parish was established in 1833 on the E side of the river and likely named after Perth in Scotland, birthplace of Sir Archibald Campbell (1769-1843), Lieut.-Gov. of NB 1831-1837.
Andover, the W side of the river, comes from a town in Hampshire, England and the name translates as 'ash tree stream.'
In 1857 the post office opened as Perth in the settlement of Coronation, 5 km S of here Coronation likely was named for the coronation of Edward VII.
In 1885 the post office name changed to Perth Centre. In 1846 Andover post office opened. The village was incorporated as Perth Andover in 1966.
John Babbit McNair (1889-1968) was born it Andover. The lawyer served as premier from 1940 to 1952. Victoria County Registry Office and Courthouse at 1135 West Riverside Drive is a Provincial historical site.
It was built in 1902 of sandstone blocks from nearby Red Rapids. Southern Victoria Historical Museum at 1291 West Riverside Drive was built in 1837 as a church.
