Description From Owner:
- The place name is a French descriptive for 'Oak Point.' In 1860 the community was the northern terminus of the European and North American Railway and a line of steamers ran between here and Summerside, PEI.
- Parlee Beach Provincial Park boasts full facilities and the warmest salt water north of Virginia, thanks to extensive sand flats which warm incoming tide waters.
- At the height of summer the water temperature often reaches 20 Celsius.
- The park honours T. Babbitt Parlee (1914-1956), provincial minister of Municipal Affairs who was killed in a plane crash while flying between Fredericton and Moncton.
- Pointe-du-Chéne post office opened in 1862. Pointe-du-Chéne Range (Front and Rear Ranges) lighthouses are active, wooden salt-shaker towers built in 1895. Route 133 to Parlee Beach Road, Parlee Beach Provincial Park.
