Description From Owner:
- John Jardine established a shipbuilding business here in 1823 and locals referred to the place as The Yard.
- In 1842, shipbuilders Holderness and Chelton came here to establish their shipbuilding business and named the place Kingston after the Kingston in Yorkshire, England.
- In 1901 Dr. J. W. Doherty had the place renamed Rexton to avoid confusion with many other Canadian communities of the same name.
- Rexton is also the birthplace of incumbent Premier Shawn Graham (1968-) who was sworn into office in October of 2006.
- The former teacher's aim is to make New Brunswick a 'have' province by 2025. Also the birthplace of Andrew Bonar Law (1858-1923) who at age 12 emigrated to Scotland, entered politics and became prime minister of Great Britain in 1922.
- Law won the general election of November 1922 but by the following May was forced to resign due to ill health.
- He died in October of 1923, having earned the distinction of being the only British prime minister born outside the United Kingdom.
- The Bonar Law House and Richibucto River Museum at 31 Bonar Law Ave. depict the way of life on a 19th century farm and life in Kent County in that era.
- Graham Creek (Graham, Tom) covered bridge is on Route 510 at Lower Main River.
