Description From Owner:
- The place was established under the Free Grants Act in 1878 as Saint-Joseph. In 1889 the post office opened here as Saint-Joseph, but in 1904 the name was changed to Pépére.
- A year later the name was changed to Saint-Léolin. Pépere is French for (a) 'a chubby little child,' or (b) 'a nice quiet little spot.'
