56 Douglas Street |
New Brunswick Tourism Region : Southeastern New Brunswick
Description From Owner:
- The community name was taken from Salisbury Parish when the post office was established here in 1840.
- The parish, established in 1787 extended almost to the Bay of Fundy and may have taken its name from Salisbury Cove, an indentation of the Bay of Fundy between Cape Enragé and Alma.
- The derivation of Salisbury goes back to the cathedral city of Salisbury in Wiltshire, England.
- A large silver fox monument recalls a silver fox-breeding business developed by Fred Colpitts which flourished here in the early 1900s. Coverdale River No. 3 (Colpitts, Bramford) covered bridge is on Colpitts Farm Road at Colpitts Settlement.
